Stella is small and early. We collect very little, share even less, and want to be straight with you about both. This page is the source of truth — if anything changes, we'll say so here and date the update at the top.
What we collect
- When you use Find trials matched to me, we store what you told us — typically your condition, location, age range, and any prior treatments — so we can show you matched trials and so you can come back to your results.
- When you sign up to follow a trial or a condition, we store your email address.
- When you visit any page, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited). We use these only for debugging and aggregate site analytics — not to identify you.
We don't collect anything else. We don't track you across other websites.
How we use it
- To show you trials that match what you told us.
- To email you — only if you opted in — when something changes about a trial or condition you follow.
- To improve Stella by looking at aggregate patterns: which pages get visited, what people search for, where they get stuck. This kind of analysis never identifies individual users.
Who we share it with
The only place your individual information goes outside Stella is to a clinical trial team — and only with your written permission. We'll often show you a trial team's contact details so you can reach out yourself; in those cases nothing leaves Stella at all. We only ever forward your information when you specifically ask us to.
We don't sell your individual personal information. If our business model ever changes to include receiving a referral fee from a trial sponsor when you successfully connect with their study, we'll explain that here. If it ever changes further than that, we'll update this page and email anyone who has shared an email address with us before the change takes effect.
Cookies and analytics
We use minimal cookies — only what's needed to make the site work and to count anonymous pageviews. No third-party advertising or behavioral-targeting cookies.
Your rights
Email eric@stellatrials.com to ask what we have on you, change anything, or delete it entirely. We'll do that within a week.
Children
Stella is built for adults navigating clinical trials for themselves or someone they love. It is not designed for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If we update this page meaningfully, we'll say so at the top and date the change. If a change affects you specifically and you have shared an email with us, we'll email you about it before it takes effect.
