Understanding how tuberculosis develops and progresses in patients

This is a research study that follows patients with tuberculosis (TB) — either active TB disease or latent TB infection — to better understand how the disease works in the body. Researchers will collect blood samples and TB bacteria samples from participants to study how the infection develops, why some people's bodies fight it better than others, and what genetic factors play a role.

Tuberculosis is a serious infection that affects millions of people worldwide, and doctors still have many unanswered questions about why it progresses differently in different people. By studying patients directly and examining their blood and bacteria samples, researchers hope to develop better ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent this disease — especially drug-resistant forms that are harder to cure.
