Bone and Heart Health Changes in Kidney Transplant Patients

This is an observational study that follows patients with severe kidney disease who are waiting for or receiving a kidney transplant. Researchers want to understand how kidney disease affects bone health and blood vessel calcification (hardening of arteries), and whether these changes improve after transplantation. The study will look at certain compounds that build up in the blood when kidneys don't work well, to see if they play a role in bone and heart problems.

People with severe kidney disease often develop weak bones and calcium buildup in their blood vessels, which can lead to fractures and heart disease. Doctors don't fully understand what causes these problems or whether a new kidney fixes them. This study exists to answer these questions and help doctors better protect patients before and after transplant.
