Bone Health Tracking in People Taking Steroids for Inflammatory Disease

This is an observational study that collects and tracks medical information from patients taking glucocorticoids (steroid medications) for chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases or psoriasis. Researchers want to better understand how this medication affects bone strength and density over time. The study will build a large database of patient information to answer important questions about bone health in people using steroid therapy.

Steroid medications are very effective at treating inflammatory diseases, but they can weaken bones as a side effect—a condition called glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis. Doctors and patients both recognize this as a major concern, but current medical knowledge is incomplete and often outdated. This study exists to gather current, detailed information about how often this happens, how severe it is, and how best to prevent and treat it.
