Building a lymphoma patient registry in Malawi

This is a long-term study that follows patients newly diagnosed with lymphoma at a major hospital in Malawi. Rather than testing a new drug or treatment, researchers are carefully documenting how patients are diagnosed, treated, and do over time—using the same care standards already available in Malawi. The goal is to create a complete, consistent medical record for each patient and learn from these experiences to improve lymphoma care in Africa.

Lymphoma patients in Malawi receive good care, but their medical information is often scattered, incomplete, or lost over time. By creating organized records and following patients for 5 years, researchers hope to understand how well treatments work and what outcomes patients have—information that is badly needed from Africa.
