What is this trial?

The FBRI VTC Neuromotor Research Clinic offers intensive therapy based on a scientifically-tested approach called ACQUIRE Therapy, designed to help children and adults with movement impairments regain strength and control in weaker parts of their body. The treatment combines high-dose, play-based therapy with expert guidance from physical and occupational therapists who work with you in real-world settings. This approach has been proven effective in previous research studies and is now being made available to a broader group of patients.

Many children and adults with cerebral palsy, stroke, brain injury, and other neuromotor conditions have uneven movement abilities between different sides of their body or struggle with weak limbs. Standard therapy alone often doesn't produce enough improvement, so researchers developed this intensive treatment model to help patients achieve meaningful gains in motor skills and independence.

Do you qualify?

You likely qualify if…

you have a neuromotor impairment (a condition affecting movement and muscle control)
you have been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, microcephaly, autism, stroke, traumatic brain injury, or acquired brain injury
you are generally in stable health and able to participate in intensive therapy

You likely don't qualify if…

you are in fragile health or medically unstable
you have acute medical conditions that would make intensive therapy unsafe

What participation looks like

You or your child would attend therapy sessions at the clinic, which may involve up to 6 hours per day of intensive, play-based therapy, typically 5 days a week for 2–4 weeks. A specially trained therapist will work with you using behavioral techniques to help strengthen and improve movement in the weaker parts of your body. Therapy is designed to be enjoyable and happens in naturalistic settings, and the therapist will help you practice new skills in real-world activities.
