Understanding what slows memory loss in Alzheimer's disease

This is an observational study that follows older adults who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Researchers will track your cognitive (thinking and memory) changes over time and collect information about your lifestyle, physical activity, brain imaging scans, and blood samples to understand what causes some people's memory loss to progress faster than others.

Currently, doctors don't fully understand why some people with Alzheimer's experience faster cognitive decline than others. By identifying the key risk factors — such as brain changes visible on MRI scans, inflammatory markers in the blood, and lifestyle factors like physical activity — researchers hope to develop preventive strategies that could help slow memory loss and preserve independence longer.
