Brain imaging study for people with GBA gene mutations and Parkinson's

This research study is looking at how a specific genetic mutation called GBA affects the brains of people with Parkinson's disease and people who carry the gene but don't have symptoms yet. Researchers will use advanced brain imaging scans and a simple typing test to see if they can spot early warning signs of brain changes linked to this genetic form of Parkinson's.

People with GBA mutations are at higher risk for Parkinson's disease and tend to develop thinking and memory problems faster than others with Parkinson's. By studying brain changes in people with this mutation—both those with and without Parkinson's symptoms—scientists hope to understand the disease better and find ways to detect it earlier.
