Building a research database for adults with Down syndrome

This study is building a group of healthy adults with Down syndrome who are willing to participate in future Alzheimer's disease research. Researchers will follow these participants over time, measuring thinking and memory skills, taking brain scans, and collecting blood or spinal fluid samples. The goal is to understand how Alzheimer's disease develops in people with Down syndrome so that future treatment trials can be designed more effectively.

People with Down syndrome are at higher risk for developing Alzheimer's disease earlier in life than the general population, but there is limited research on how the disease progresses in this group. By studying healthy adults now, researchers hope to identify the earliest warning signs and develop better ways to test new treatments in future clinical trials.
