Testing a new drug added to chemotherapy for hard-to-treat childhood cancers

This trial is testing whether a medication called vorinostat can be safely combined with three chemotherapy drugs (vincristine, irinotecan, and temozolomide) in children and young adults with cancers that have come back or stopped responding to treatment. The first cycle of chemotherapy will be given alone to see how well your body tolerates it, and then vorinostat will be added starting in the second cycle. Researchers will slowly increase the dose of the medication in future patient groups to find the right amount that works safely.

Some childhood and young adult cancers return or stop responding to standard chemotherapy alone. This medication works differently than traditional chemotherapy drugs, and early research suggests it might help fight these stubborn cancers when combined with existing treatments.
