Testing a new MRI method to detect nerve damage in the eye

This trial is testing whether a specialized MRI scanning technique — using diffusion-weighted imaging — can accurately detect anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, a sudden loss of blood flow to the nerve in your eye. Researchers will add two extra scanning sequences (taking about 8 minutes) to an MRI that you're already planning to have for your eye and brain. The goal is to see if this new scanning method is better at catching this condition than standard imaging.

Anterior ischemic optic neuropathy can cause sudden vision loss, and doctors need better ways to diagnose it quickly and accurately. This trial exists to see whether this new MRI technique can help doctors spot the condition more reliably, which could lead to faster treatment and better outcomes for patients.
