Early lung cancer screening for younger heavy smokers

This trial is testing whether low-dose CT scans can safely detect lung cancer early in younger adults (ages 40-54) who have smoked heavily. Researchers want to understand how often lung cancer is found at each screening visit and whether these scans work well for people in this age group who may not normally qualify for standard lung cancer screening.

Most lung cancer screening programs focus on older adults, but many younger heavy smokers are not screened and may have cancer that goes undetected. This trial exists to understand whether starting screening earlier could catch lung cancers at a stage when they are easier to treat.
