Understanding How Doctors Manage Severe Asthma in Hong Kong

This is a research study looking at how doctors in Hong Kong are treating patients with severe asthma — the kind that requires the strongest medications (steps 4 and 5 of asthma treatment guidelines) to keep symptoms under control. By studying what's happening in real-world clinical practice, researchers hope to understand whether patients are receiving the best possible care and identify ways to improve treatment outcomes.

Severe asthma affects a small percentage of people with asthma, but it causes major disruption to their lives and puts enormous strain on the healthcare system. Many patients with severe asthma still experience frequent attacks and hospitalizations despite being on the strongest available treatments. This study aims to understand why some patients aren't doing well and what factors might help doctors provide better care.
