Understanding pelvic floor changes during cancer treatment

The PANTHERA study is looking at how cancer treatments — like chemotherapy — can affect pelvic floor function (bladder control, bowel function, and sexual health) in patients with breast cancer or gynecological cancers. Researchers want to understand how common these problems are and what factors make them more or less likely to happen, so they can find better ways to prevent and treat them.

Cancer treatments can sometimes cause problems with bladder, bowel, and sexual function that significantly affect patients' quality of life. By collecting information from many patients about their experiences during treatment, researchers hope to identify which patients are at higher risk and develop strategies to help prevent or manage these side effects.
