Helping more people get lung cancer screening

This trial is testing whether a two-part program — one that trains healthcare providers and one that educates patients — can help more people who smoke or recently quit get screened for lung cancer. The researchers want to understand why some groups are less likely to get lung cancer screening and whether better communication and support from doctors can close that gap.

African American smokers and white smokers are screened for lung cancer at different rates, even though lung cancer screening can save lives. This study exists to find ways to make sure all smokers have equal access to information and support about screening, regardless of race or background.
