Targeted radiation to brain tumors versus whole-brain radiation for lung cancer spread to the brain

This trial is testing whether a focused radiation treatment that targets only the spots where cancer has spread to the brain works as well as (or better than) radiation to the entire brain, combined with memantine. The main goal is to find out which approach better protects your memory and thinking skills after treatment, since both radiation methods can sometimes affect how well your brain works.

Both radiation approaches can effectively treat brain cancer, but they carry a risk of affecting memory and cognitive function. This trial exists to determine whether the focused approach can achieve the same cancer control as whole-brain radiation while reducing the risk to your thinking and memory.
