Early detection screening for type 1 diabetes in young children

This is a large screening study for young children across Israel designed to detect very early signs of type 1 diabetes before symptoms appear. Researchers will test up to 50,000 children between 9 months and 5 years old using a new, extremely sensitive blood test that can catch warning signs years earlier than standard tests. Children who show positive results will be monitored closely and offered family support and education.

Type 1 diabetes often develops silently before children show any symptoms. By catching the early warning signs through this new, highly sensitive test, doctors hope to identify at-risk children earlier and help families prepare for or potentially prevent the disease from progressing.
