Understanding tooth and gum problems in Sjögren's syndrome patients

Sjögren's syndrome is an autoimmune disease that damages the salivary glands, leaving the mouth very dry. This study looks at how dry mouth affects teeth and gums in Sjögren's patients, and collects saliva samples to understand what changes in saliva might increase the risk of tooth decay, wear, and gum disease.

While dry mouth is known to cause dental problems, there is not enough research documenting exactly how often tooth wear and gum disease occur in Sjögren's patients or what saliva changes are responsible. This study aims to fill that gap so doctors can better understand and prevent these complications.
