Teaching Head Start staff to help reduce asthma in young children

This trial is testing whether an asthma education program called ABC Asthma can be successfully taught to Head Start staff and families to help reduce asthma symptoms in young children. The program focuses on training teachers, family advocates, and other staff to recognize asthma triggers and help families manage their child's asthma better. Researchers want to see if this approach can be put into practice at Head Start centers across Maryland and actually work to keep children healthier and in school more often.

Even though this asthma education program has been shown to work in research studies, it hasn't been successfully put into place at community organizations like Head Start in a way that lasts. This trial wants to figure out the best way to teach and support Head Start staff so they can help families manage asthma, which will reduce how many days children miss school and improve their overall health and development.
