This study doesn't follow the usual testing phases โ it may be an observational study or a different type of research.
This trial is testing whether CPAP (a common breathing device that gently pushes air into your airways) can help treat two difficult blood pressure problems that happen together: very high blood pressure when you're lying down, and very low blood pressure when you stand up. These problems often occur in people with certain nerve disorders. Researchers want to see if using this device at night or during the day can help control both of these problems at once.
People with certain nerve-related conditions struggle with dangerously high blood pressure while lying down and dangerously low blood pressure when standing up โ and treating one problem often makes the other worse. This study explores whether this breathing device might help manage both problems safely without those trade-offs.

You will spend up to 5 days at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. After screening tests (physical exam, blood work, and nerve function testing), you'll participate in either daytime studies, overnight studies, or both. In daytime studies, you'll lie down while wearing the breathing device for up to 2 hours on two separate days โ one with the real device and one with a sham (fake) device โ while doctors monitor your blood pressure and heart rate. In overnight studies, you'll sleep for up to 9 nights using the real device, a sham device, or sleeping with your bed tilted upward, with continuous monitoring. Blood samples and urine collection will happen during your visits.
