Blood tests to improve head and neck cancer detection and monitoring

This trial is testing whether a simple blood test can help doctors better understand and manage oropharyngeal cancer (a type of throat cancer). By analyzing tumor-related DNA that circulates in your blood — sometimes called a 'liquid biopsy' — researchers hope to create a tool that can detect cancer earlier, determine what type you have, and catch any return of the disease sooner than current methods allow.

Currently, doctors rely on imaging scans and tissue biopsies to diagnose throat cancer and monitor patients after treatment, but these methods can be difficult, invasive, and sometimes give unclear results. This treatment could provide a safer, faster way to track cancer without needing repeated invasive procedures.
