Screening people at risk for fatty liver disease across Europe

GRIPonMASH is a large research study designed to identify people at high risk for fatty liver disease — a condition where fat builds up in the liver. Researchers will use simple blood tests and ultrasound scans to screen 10,000 people across 10 European countries who have diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, or high blood pressure. The study will also collect blood samples and small tissue samples to better understand what causes this disease and find early warning signs.

Fatty liver disease is becoming more common in people with diabetes and obesity, but it's often detected too late. This study aims to find better, non-invasive ways to catch the disease early so doctors can help patients before serious liver damage occurs.
