This research study is testing whether special blood tests and tumor tissue tests can help doctors predict which patients are at higher risk of lung cancer coming back after surgery. The study also wants to see if a blood test called DetermaRx can detect cancer recurrence later on. If you qualify, you'll have blood drawn and your tumor tissue analyzed to help personalize your follow-up care.
After lung cancer surgery, doctors don't always know which patients are most likely to have their cancer return. This study aims to develop better blood tests that can identify high-risk patients early, so they can receive additional treatment if needed, and to catch any recurrence sooner.

If you qualify, you'll have blood drawn at the beginning of the study and your lung nodule will be removed by surgery or treated with radiation therapy at Moffitt Cancer Center. After treatment, your tumor tissue will be tested with a gene assay to determine your recurrence risk. Depending on your results, you may be offered additional chemotherapy and a targeted oral medication if a specific mutation is found, or you may be monitored with follow-up visits every 6 to 12 months over 5 years to check for any signs of cancer returning.
