Tracking lung blood pressure in connective tissue disease patients

This is a long-term observational study that tracks patients with connective tissue diseases — like lupus or scleroderma — who have developed a serious condition called pulmonary arterial hypertension, which is high blood pressure in the lungs. Researchers will follow you for five years, collecting information about your medical history, symptoms, and test results to understand how this condition progresses and which treatments work best for different patients.

Connective tissue diseases frequently lead to lung blood vessel damage and high blood pressure in the lungs, which can become life-threatening. While international studies have improved our understanding of this problem, Mexico needs its own research to learn about the condition in its patient population and to identify which patients are at highest risk and which treatments help them most.
