What is this trial?

MAPPYACTS 2 is a research program that studies the genetics and biology of children's and young adults' cancers that have come back or didn't respond to standard treatment. By analyzing your tumor samples, doctors can better understand your specific cancer and recommend more personalized treatment options that might work better for you. This study also helps researchers develop new cancer treatments for future patients.

Many children and young adults with cancer find that standard treatments stop working or their cancer returns. This study exists to help doctors understand why some cancers are hard to treat and to match each patient with the most promising treatment based on their individual cancer's unique characteristics.

Do you qualify?

You likely qualify if…

you are 25 years old or younger at the time of your initial cancer diagnosis
you have been diagnosed with a solid tumor or leukemia that has returned or stopped responding to standard treatment
you have a tumor sample available from your current disease (either from a recent biopsy, surgery, bone marrow sample, or stored tumor tissue from the last few months)
you are potentially eligible for an experimental treatment or early-stage clinical trial
your doctor expects you to have a life expectancy greater than 3 months

You likely don't qualify if…

you are pregnant
you have another serious illness or lab abnormality that might make it hard to interpret the study results
you do not have access to a tumor sample from your current recurrent or refractory disease

What participation looks like

Your participation involves providing a tumor sample (either from a planned biopsy, surgery, or blood/bone marrow sample, or from stored tumor tissue) for genetic analysis. A team of molecular biologists and doctors will study your sample and discuss your case to recommend personalized treatment options. You will be asked to share information about your cancer diagnosis, treatments you've received, and how you respond to treatment over time so researchers can learn what works best for patients like you.
