Understanding genetic factors in breast and prostate cancer in people of African descent

Researchers want to understand the genetic and molecular changes that cause breast and prostate cancer, especially in people of African ancestry. This study will collect blood samples and archived tissue from patients diagnosed with these cancers across nine countries and the United States, then analyze them to identify patterns and risk factors that have not been well studied in African populations.

Most cancer research has focused on people of European ancestry, which means we don't know enough about how cancer develops differently in people of African ancestry. This study aims to fill that gap so doctors can better understand and treat these cancers in all patients.
