Understanding liver damage risk in patients with two liver conditions

This is an observational study enrolling 1,000 patients with two liver conditions: chronic hepatitis B and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Researchers want to understand what factors increase the risk of serious liver damage — like cirrhosis, liver cancer, or liver failure — in people who have both conditions. By studying this population carefully, they hope to develop better tools to predict who is at highest risk and needs the most aggressive treatment.

When someone has both chronic hepatitis B and fatty liver disease at the same time, their liver damage often progresses faster and more severely than with either condition alone. Doctors currently lack clear guidance about which patients are most at risk and how to best monitor and treat them. This study aims to fill that gap by identifying the key warning signs and risk factors.
