Understanding why some young people get heart disease without risk factors

Researchers are trying to solve a medical mystery: why do some young people without diabetes, high cholesterol, or smoking history develop severe heart disease, while others with multiple risk factors stay healthy? This study will collect blood samples and medical information from 1,500 people in different groups to identify hidden genetic and biological factors that either cause or protect against heart disease.

Standard heart disease risk factors don't explain everything—many young people develop heart attacks without any warning signs, while others with every major risk factor stay healthy. By studying these opposite extremes, researchers hope to discover new biological mechanisms that could eventually lead to better prevention and treatment strategies.
