Testing a supplement to help prevent prostate cancer growth before surgery

This study is testing whether urolithin A, a supplement derived from pomegranate and other fruits, can help slow or prevent cancer cell growth in men with prostate cancer before they have surgery to remove their prostate. Researchers want to see if this medication reduces signs of cell damage and changes that are linked to cancer progression. Half of the participants will receive the real supplement, and half will receive a placebo (a dummy pill) over 3 to 6 weeks.

There is growing evidence that urolithin A may protect cells from damage and slow cancer growth, but this has not been fully tested in men with prostate cancer. This study aims to determine whether this medication actually works to reduce harmful cell changes before surgery removes the cancer.
