Testing a medication combined with radiation for a rare abdominal cancer

This trial is testing a medication called abemaciclib combined with radiation therapy for a rare type of fatty cancer that grows in the abdomen (retroperitoneal liposarcoma). The study wants to see if giving this medication by mouth twice daily for up to three months, along with radiation therapy, can shrink the cancer before surgery. After the radiation is complete, you would have surgery to remove the remaining tumor.

This rare abdominal cancer is difficult to treat and often comes back after surgery alone. This trial is exploring whether adding this targeted medication before surgery — combined with radiation — can improve outcomes and help prevent the cancer from returning.
