Understanding how common HPV infection is in different communities worldwide

The GLOBE-HPV study is collecting urine samples and health information from thousands of girls and women across eight countries in Africa and South Asia. Researchers want to understand how common human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is in different communities — especially those with limited access to healthcare — and how long the infection typically lasts. This information will help public health leaders plan better screening and prevention programs.

HPV can lead to serious health problems like cervical cancer, but we don't have good data on how common it is in low-income communities in Africa and South Asia. This study will fill that gap so health systems can better prepare screening and vaccination programs.
