Comparing two breast reconstruction methods after mastectomy

This trial compares two different surgical approaches to breast reconstruction after mastectomy. Some patients will be randomly assigned to either implant-based reconstruction or autologous reconstruction (using your own abdominal tissue, called a DIEP flap), while others with a strong preference can choose their preferred method. The study will follow you for five years to see which approach gives better satisfaction and quality of life.

While breast reconstruction is an important part of breast cancer treatment, doctors don't yet have clear evidence about which surgical method works best for most patients. This trial aims to gather that evidence so future patients and their doctors can make better-informed decisions.
