This study doesn't follow the usual testing phases — it may be an observational study or a different type of research.
This trial is testing a program called CATNAP that combines one-on-one counseling sessions with text message support to help Native American adults use their sleep apnea breathing device (called PAP therapy) more regularly. Sleep apnea is a serious condition where breathing stops and starts during sleep, and the study explores whether treating it better might help protect your memory and thinking skills as you get older.
Sleep apnea is linked to memory loss and dementia, especially in Native American communities, but many people struggle to use their breathing device consistently. This trial wants to find out whether adding counseling and supportive messages can help people stick with treatment and potentially prevent cognitive decline.

If you join, you will be randomly assigned to either receive usual care alone or usual care plus the CATNAP program. The CATNAP group will have three one-on-one counseling sessions focused on using your breathing device and brain health, plus receive supportive text messages over 9 months. All participants will have their device usage automatically tracked and will complete questionnaires at the start, 3 months, and 9 months to measure how well they're using the device and how their thinking and memory are doing.
