This study doesn't follow the usual testing phases โ it may be an observational study or a different type of research.
When a newborn needs intensive care in the hospital, parents often feel stressed and anxious about their role and their baby's condition. This study is testing whether regular video calls โ allowing you to see and talk with your baby at the bedside using an iPad โ can help lower your stress levels compared to the phone and in-person updates your hospital already provides.
Hospitals already know that parental stress is a real problem in newborn intensive care units, and they've tried many ways to help โ like daily updates and skin-to-skin contact. However, nobody has yet studied whether adding regular video calls with audio can make a real difference in reducing parental stress.

You will be randomly placed in one of two groups. Both groups receive the hospital's routine phone and bedside updates. If you are in the video call group, you will also receive 2โ3 video calls per week using an iPad at your baby's bedside, where you can see and speak with your infant. Over an 8-week period, you will complete brief questionnaires about your stress and mood at three time points โ around days 7โ10, days 14โ21, and weeks 6โ8 of your baby's stay.
