Using music therapy to help stroke patients regain speech

This trial is testing a new approach called music therapy to help people recover their ability to speak after a stroke affecting the speech center of the brain. The treatment combines music with speech therapy techniques and is being specially adapted for Indian languages and culture. Researchers want to see if this approach works better than standard speech therapy alone.

After certain strokes, people lose the ability to speak fluently, which can be deeply isolating. Standard speech therapy helps some patients, but many don't recover as much as they'd like. This trial exists to see whether adding music-based techniques—which engage different parts of the brain—might help more people regain their speech.
