What is this trial?

This is a research study that uses advanced genetic testing to analyze your cancer cells and understand what makes your specific multiple myeloma unique. Researchers will study DNA and other genetic information from your blood and bone marrow samples to identify which genes are driving your cancer and which treatments might work best for you. The goal is to create a personalized map of your cancer to guide your care.

Multiple myeloma affects each patient differently, and doctors don't always know which treatment will work best for each person. By studying the genetic blueprint of your individual cancer, researchers hope to match patients with treatments that are most likely to help them, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Do you qualify?

You likely qualify if…

you are 18 years of age or older
you have been diagnosed with relapsed multiple myeloma
you have a treating physician who is willing to participate in the study
you are already scheduled to have a bone marrow biopsy or tumor biopsy as part of your regular cancer care
you are willing to provide informed consent and participate

You likely don't qualify if…

you have been diagnosed with certain related blood disorders such as AL amyloidosis, Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia, POEMS, or Castleman disease
you have been diagnosed with another type of cancer (other than myeloma or non-melanoma skin cancer) within the past 2 years
you are currently enrolled in another clinical trial that involves chemotherapy or immunotherapy for multiple myeloma
you will not be receiving myeloma treatment in the 2 months following your tumor biopsy

What participation looks like

You will meet with a clinician to discuss the study and provide information about your medical history, medications, and family history. Samples will be collected from your blood, a cheek swab, and your bone marrow (from the biopsies already planned as part of your regular care). These samples will be sent to the laboratory where researchers will use advanced genetic sequencing and analysis to study your cancer. The study lasts about 2 years, though most of your active participation (visits and sample collection) happens at the beginning.
