Computer Learning Program for Kidney Disease Education in African American Patients

This study is testing a computer-based educational program designed specifically for African American patients with advanced chronic kidney disease who are in the hospital. The program adapts to each person's needs and teaches about kidney disease self-care, treatment options, and lifestyle changes. Researchers want to see if this personalized computer program helps patients learn more and feel more motivated to take care of their health than patients who only receive standard printed materials.

Many people with advanced kidney disease don't have enough knowledge about their condition or the treatment options available to them, which can affect the choices they make about their care. This study exists to test whether a targeted, interactive computer program can better educate and motivate patients compared to traditional written materials.
