Building a mood disorder research database and recruitment network

ENABLE is a research platform—not a treatment study—that collects detailed information from people living with depression or bipolar disorder, as well as healthy volunteers. Researchers will gather clinical assessments, blood samples, brain imaging scans, and other measurements to create a shared resource for Canadian neuroscience researchers. This database will help speed up future clinical trials and discoveries for mood disorders.

Mood disorders like depression and bipolar disorder affect millions of people, but we still need better ways to understand them and test new treatments. By collecting detailed, standardized information from many people in one place, researchers can launch new studies more quickly and develop more effective treatments.
