Testing a common antibiotic to prevent lung scarring after tuberculosis

This trial is testing whether doxycycline, a common antibiotic, can help prevent lung scarring (fibrosis) in people with advanced tuberculosis. You would take the medication or a placebo pill once daily for 12 weeks while receiving your regular TB treatment. Researchers will use imaging scans and breathing tests to see if the medication helps protect your lungs from long-term damage.

Tuberculosis can cause permanent scarring and damage to the lungs, even after the infection is successfully treated with standard TB drugs. This trial is testing whether this medication can reduce that scarring and help preserve lung function for TB patients.
