Injecting immune-boosting medications directly into liver tumors

This trial is testing a new approach to treating advanced liver cancer by injecting immune-boosting medications called ipilimumab and pembrolizumab (or durvalumab) directly into the tumor, rather than giving them through an IV infusion into your bloodstream. The researchers hope that delivering the medication directly to the tumor site will make it work better and cause fewer side effects. Depending on which group you join, you may also receive chemotherapy or another drug called bevacizumab alongside these injections.

These immune-boosting medications have worked well for other types of cancer, but doctors have mostly given them through the bloodstream. This trial is exploring whether injecting them directly into the liver tumor could be safer and more effective by concentrating the medication right where the cancer is.
