If you're randomly chosen for this study, a patient navigator will call you within about 72 hours after your emergency room visit to talk about any barriers you face in getting follow-up care and to help you understand your gout treatment. The navigator will work with you to figure out what support you need and help connect you with an outpatient doctor for gout care. People in the comparison group will receive usual care with no additional phone support.
