Early lung cancer detection screening for high-risk individuals in Mexico

This research study is looking for lung cancer in its earliest stages using a special low-dose imaging scan called computed tomography (CT). The study is designed for people aged 50 and older who have a higher risk of developing lung cancer — including current smokers, former smokers who quit recently, people exposed to wood smoke, or those with chronic lung disease. Researchers will track participants over several years to see how often this screening approach catches cancer early and how it affects people's health and wellbeing.

Lung cancer is often found too late, when it's harder to treat. This study exists to see whether regular screening with low-dose imaging scans can catch lung cancer when it's still small and more treatable, especially in Mexican populations where wood smoke exposure is common.
