Heart attack with shock: Understanding treatment and outcomes

This is a research study looking back at medical records from patients who had a severe type of heart attack called STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) that was complicated by cardiogenic shock — a condition where the heart suddenly can't pump enough blood to the body. Researchers want to understand what treatments doctors used, how often patients recovered, and what patient factors affected the outcome. By studying past cases from two major hospitals in Abu Dhabi, they hope to learn what works best and improve care for future patients.

Heart disease causes more deaths in the UAE than in many other countries around the world. There isn't enough information about how this particular type of severe heart attack is treated in the Gulf region or what the best approaches are. This study aims to fill that gap by examining real patient experiences to guide better treatment decisions.
