Blood and stool samples to predict stroke recovery and recurrence risk

Researchers are collecting blood and stool samples from people who have recently had an ischemic stroke (a type of stroke caused by a blood clot). By analyzing these samples using advanced laboratory techniques, the team hopes to create a prediction tool that can tell doctors early on who is at higher risk for poor recovery or another stroke in the future.

Ischemic strokes are a major health problem, especially in China, where they happen frequently and many patients have another stroke or become disabled. Right now, doctors don't have a reliable way to predict early on who will recover well and who won't. This study aims to develop a better prediction tool so doctors can identify high-risk patients sooner and plan better prevention strategies.
