How cystic fibrosis care is changing with new effective treatments

This is a large research program studying how cystic fibrosis care is changing in France following the introduction of highly effective CFTR modulators—new medications that have dramatically improved health outcomes for most patients. The study will track what's working well, what's changing in how care is organized, and whether patients and doctors need to adjust how often visits happen or what treatments are still necessary. Researchers want to understand the real-world impact of this treatment revolution so they can make better recommendations about organizing care moving forward.

Since these new medications were approved, many patients have experienced remarkable improvements in lung function and nutrition—so much so that some patients have stopped other treatments or asked for fewer clinic visits. However, doctors don't yet have enough information to safely recommend reducing standard care or to redesign how cystic fibrosis centers operate. This study will gather that missing information so centers can adapt their care approach with confidence.
