Plain-English translation of NCT06632782 on ClinicalTrials.gov ↗ ·
This study doesn't follow the usual testing phases — it may be an observational study or a different type of research.
This study is testing whether a combination of guided breathing awareness exercises using a special pyramid-shaped cap can help improve mood and reduce anxiety and depression in people with type 2 diabetes. Researchers will compare people who receive the breathing training to people who continue their usual diabetes care. The study also measures whether this treatment helps with blood sugar control.
Many people with type 2 diabetes struggle with anxiety and depression, which can make managing their diabetes harder. This trial exists to see if simple breathing exercises—guided by a trained instructor and using a special cap—might be an affordable, non-medication way to improve mental health and possibly help with blood sugar control too.

If you join, you'll be randomly placed into either a treatment group or a waitlist group. The treatment group will attend 1–2 hour daily training sessions for 6 weeks (in person or online, your choice) led by a certified breathing instructor, where you'll wear a special pyramid cap and practice breath awareness while also discussing healthy living. Both groups will have their blood drawn and complete mental health and quality-of-life questionnaires at the start, after 6 weeks, and after 12 weeks. The waitlist group will receive the same breathing training after the study ends.
