Testing a new immunotherapy drug with standard cancer treatment for esophageal cancer

This study is testing whether adding a medication called benmelstobart to the standard treatment (chemotherapy and radiation) can help more people with a specific type of esophageal cancer achieve a complete response before surgery. Half of the 100 participants will receive the medication along with standard treatment, and half will receive standard treatment alone. The goal is to see if this combination helps destroy the cancer more effectively.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is a serious disease, and doctors want to find better ways to shrink tumors before surgery. This medication works differently than traditional chemotherapy, so researchers believe combining it with standard treatment might help more patients have a better outcome.
