Blood test to predict cancer recurrence in head and neck cancer

This research study is testing a new type of blood test — called a liquid biopsy — designed to find and analyze cancer cells circulating in your blood. The test looks for specific markers that may predict whether your head and neck cancer is likely to come back or spread to other parts of your body. Researchers hope this information will help doctors plan the best treatment strategy for you.

Many patients with head and neck cancer experience cancer recurrence or spread even after surgery and chemotherapy. Currently, doctors don't have a reliable way to predict who will relapse soon after treatment. This test is being developed to fill that gap — to identify high-risk patients early so treatment can be adjusted accordingly.
