New lung cancer and breathing treatment combination study

This trial is testing whether a combination of cancer-fighting drugs and breathing medications works well together for people with advanced lung squamous cell cancer who also have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). All participants will receive suglizumab — a new type of cancer-fighting medication — plus two chemotherapy drugs. Then researchers will compare two different breathing medication approaches to see which works better for managing both the cancer and the lung disease.

Many people diagnosed with advanced lung cancer also have COPD, which makes their lungs weaker and harder to manage. Doctors need to know the best way to treat the cancer while also protecting and supporting lung function, since traditional cancer treatments can sometimes make breathing problems worse.
