Better heart rhythm care for older adults with multiple health conditions

AFFIRMO is testing a new way to care for older adults (65+) who have atrial fibrillation—an irregular heartbeat—along with other health conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease. Some patients will receive a personalized care program called iABC that includes education, dietary guidance, exercise recommendations, and close monitoring. Others will receive usual care as normally provided at their hospital or clinic.

Older patients with atrial fibrillation often have multiple other health problems, making their care complicated. This trial is designed to see whether a structured, personalized approach—rather than standard care—can better prevent complications like stroke and improve quality of life in these vulnerable patients.
